Alongside her nine-year-old lightweight Tudor Minstral, Billy, Jenna came out ahead of the competition to be crowned champion – unprecedented for an amateur competitor.

We are all delighted with Jenna’s recent win, and her success is testament to the hard work and dedication she has put in for many years.

Hargate Hill will be holding a college course open evening on the 23rd July between 5pm – 7pm providing a great opportunity to find out more about the courses on offer in Animal and Horse Care and Management available via Kirklees College from September 2012.

Following a definite meeting of minds, Hargate Hill has been chosen by Kirklees College to offer a range of fully-accredited horse and small animal care courses – qualifications that significantly enhance a student’s prospects of gainful employment within the sector.

Hargate Hill will be holding an open evening on the 23 July between 5.30 – 7.30pm, an opportunity for those interested to find out more about the courses. From September 2012 the following qualifications will be available through Kirklees College at Hargate Hill:

BTEC Diploma in Horse Care Level 2 – completion of this course fulfils the entrance criteria for the BTEC extended diploma in horse management level 3. It may also lead to work within the sector at riding schools, stables, saddleries or feed merchants.

BTEC Extended Diploma in Horse Management Level 3 – this course opens up a wide range of employment options, for example as a freelance instructor, riding school proprietor, competition groom, equine dentist or physiotherapist. Students will often progress to a HND or degree.

BTEC Diploma in Animal Care Level 2 – this course is a stepping stone for those interested in a career in the animal care industry, for example in kennels, animal welfare establishments, grooming parlours or as a veterinary nursing assistant.

BTEC Extended Diploma in Animal Management Level 3 – opportunities for employment within the animal care sector with this qualification include work in vets, laboratories, animal welfare establishments, wild life centres and commercial organisations.

Huddersfield-based Kirklees College, is one of the largest of its kind in the country, offering a vast range of courses and qualifications and it chooses its partners carefully. Michael Bennett explains why Hargate Hill was selected:

“We were incredibly impressed with the facilities for students at Hargate Hill. We expect the take up to be very high and encourage young people interested in either the small animal or the horse courses to get their applications in early.”

Established in 1980 Hargate Hill was once a handful of stables and a run down cottage but over the last 20 years it’s been transformed into impressive equestrian facilities, fishing lakes and now, with the Kirklees partnership – a recognised provider of higher education.

One can only imagine what’s round the corner…
